We talk alot! Men on average say about 20,000 words a day and women about 30,000. So what are we using all those words for? Are we saying and thinking things that are helping us be stronger? In Paul’s closing remarks to the Colossians he helps encourage them to use their words for good and encouragement!

Colossians 4:2-17

Our speech is used to pray. When we are working, it’s us doing the work. But when we pray it is God doing the work. Let’s devote more of those words to praying to the Lord.

We use our words to proclaim the message of Jesus. Is there really any better use of our speech then this? I mean, think about it, if we tell someone about God and they commit their lives to Christ…that was a beneficial conversation! Let’s have more of them!

Our speech is used to praise other Christians. There is plenty of negativity in the world. Plenty that we can complain about. Plenty to criticize. Let’s be different. Let’s use more of our words to encourage, strengthen, and congratulate our fellow brethren. Wouldn’t that be a refreshing change of pace?

God gave us a mouth for a reason. Now it’s our daily choice as to what we’re going to use it for!
